Obituary of Charles E. Wiesner, Jr.

Charles E. Wiesner. Jr. of Glastonbury, Ct. passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017   at the age of 82. The eldest of four children, he was born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 21, 1935 to the late Charles Wiesner and Alfreda Wiesner Gallipo. He grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island and was a graduate of the local high school. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island as a Mechanical Engineer. During his lifetime, Charles enjoyed Bass fishing and growing orchids, at one time he nurtured over 500 plants in his home.  He was an avid fan of auto racing and watched NASCAR, Indy and Formula 1 on television. He was a longtime member of Buckingham Congregational Church and served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Second Lieutenant. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford for over 40 years and retired as an Assistant Project Engineer with patents and many accomplishments to his name. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Long Wiesner of Glastonbury CT. He is also survived by his three children Carin Wiesner and Eric Hoffman of Glastonbury, CT, Charles and Lori (Manganelli) of Lincoln, Rhode Island and Clary and Eric Tepper of Sacramento, CA, three grandchildren Mason Wiesner, Maren Tepper and Quinn Tepper and his siblings Joan Deines of Bradenton, FL, Joyce and David Olsson of Ledyard, CT, and Beverly Kilguss of North Kingston, RI as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Warren Deines and Christian "Pete" Kilguss. The family would like to thank the staff at Salmon Brook Rehabilitation Center for their care and kindness during his stay. A memorial celebration will take place at Buckingham Congregational Church, 16 Cricket Lane, Glastonbury CT on Friday August 4 at 11am. Burial with military honors will follow in Buckingham Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday, Aug.3 from 4-6pm.
