Obituary of Katielou Gifford Sevigny
Katie Lou Gifford Sevigny passed away peacefully on March 19, 2018 in Hartford, Connecticut, surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of Michel (Mick) Gifford and the late Robin Lou Gifford, Katie was born on June 16, 1971, also in Hartford. Katie spent her life in Glastonbury, CT where she was a life-long member of the First Church of Christ Congregational. She attended Glastonbury Public Schools and graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1989. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BA in French and English in 1993, and then decided to pursue her love of law. In the spring of 1999, Katie graduated from the University of Connecticut, School of Law with her Juris Doctor degree. For the past 14 years Katie was a member of the Pratt & Whitney Legal Team. She was Director and Senior Counsel with P&W Commercial Engines and recently led contract negotiations with first airline customers for Pratt’s Geared Turbofan Engines. Katie’s most cherished loves of her life were her beautiful children, Jack and Megan. She most enjoyed their Saturday morning baseball and softball games, gymnastics and track meets, and orchestra concerts. Katie was also an avid runner and completed several 5Ks, the Hartford Marathon “Half Marathon” in October in 2016, and a 10K in October 2017. She loved to fill weekend days with spontaneous road-trips with her children and their cousins. Like her mother, the late Robin Lou, family vacations in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina were always a highlight of the year. In addition to her beloved children, Katie leaves her father, Mick Gifford; her sister, Lisa McGill and brother-in-law Danny; her brother Michael Gifford and sister-in-law Jen; her nieces and nephews: Conor, Erin, Sean and Brian McGill; and Anna, Holly and Benjamin Gifford; her Grandma Gifford; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved friends. Katie was a loyal friend, whose wit and wisdom will be forever missed, but never forgotten. Katie loved conversations with friends and family, and while she was quick to offer her opinions, she was an even better listener. Her grace and faith, and - in her final months - her humble defiance will live on forever. Her family thanks all her friends who supported her family and those who participated in the Meal Train. In addition, they express their sincere thanks and gratitude for Dr. Patricia DeFusco, the staff of Conklin Building Floor 2 (CB2) at Hartford Hospital, and Eve and the Hartford Healthcare at Home HOPE Team for their caring and compassionate care during her illness.
