Obituary of Bruce A. Kinel

On the evening of Sunday, September 16th, 2018,  Bruce Anthony Kinel, 66,  passed away in his home in East Hartford, having succumbed to his bout with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on March 28, 1952 in Harford, Connecticut to the late Madeleine (Gosselin) Kinel and Stanley Kinel. Growing up in Parkville, Bruce enjoyed playing sports and had fond memories of attending school at Our Lady of Sorrows. Attending high school at La Salette Seminary, he grew in his faith and devotion to the Catholic Church. He then attended Eastern Connecticut State University acquiring a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. Upon graduation, he began working for the Hartford Courant in their press room until he gained employment as a programmer for Aetna. Bruce continued in that field working for various employers until he was hired at the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Yankees fan, and would enjoy watching the games with his family and friends. He loved life to the fullest and considered himself the ‘Luckiest man on Earth.’

He is survived by his wife Janine (Kowalczyk) Kinel , his four children, Allison and her husband Sean Anderson, Rebecca and her husband Tom Tedesco, Timothy Kinel and his wife Dana, and Lindsey Kinel and her fiancée Nicole. He had six grandchildren, Avery, Riley, Makenna, John, Tim, and Addison.   He also leaves behind his sister Janice and her husband James Dennis and his brother George and his wife Susan Kinel and many nieces and nephews.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Avenue, Harford, Connecticut.  Immediately following he will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Glastonbury, Connecticut.  Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 20, 2018, from 4-7pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, Connecticut.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to pancan.org.   May he rest in the loving embrace of our Lord.
