Obituary of Anna O'Brien
Anna (Casper) O'Brien, 87, of Glastonbury, formerly of New Britain, wife of the late William T. O'Brien, died Wednesday October 26, 2011 at Manchester Hospital. She spent her final days surrounded by her family. Born August 3, 1924 in New Britain, daughter of the late Charles and Veronica (Gelinas) Casper, she had lived all her life in New Britain until moving to Glastonbury 15 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1985 she was a Production Clerk for Fafnir Bearing. Anna graduated from New Britain High School in 1942 and was a member of the Fairview Senior's Club. She played for the Fafnir Bearing Women's basketball and softball teams. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and was an avid fan of UCONN Women's Basketball. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John A. and Robin O'Brien of Windsor Locks, her daughter and son-in-law Veronica and Richard Wilkison of Glastonbury, a sister Mildred Ackerman of Newington, 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Erin O'Brien of Newton, MA, Megan and Paul Cassarino of East Hartford, Michael Wilkison of Glastonbury, Matthew O'Brien of Windsor Locks and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson David Wilkison, a sister Viola Ziegler and a brother Casimer Casper. Funeral service will be Monday Oct. 31, at 9:15am from the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday Oct. 30, from 2-4pm.
