Obituary of William Dudley Upjohn, Jr.
William Dudley Upjohn, Jr., born June 9 1930, died peacefully in his sleep November 8, 2019.
He grew up in Mt. Kisco, New York. His studies at Cornell University were interrupted for 2 years when serving in the army during the Korean conflict, which brought him to Alaska in the 1950’s. He finished his studies and graduated with an architectural degree and worked his entire life at various architectural firms, including a 7 year stint in Tacoma Washington. He married Liz Rodman in 1957, and had four kids from New York to Washington State to Connecticut. He was remarried in 1983 to May Lehto who had 2 sons. Bill lived a good long life, filled with kids, ski trips, pic-nics, camping, bike rides, tennis, swimming, hiking & canoeing on the Connecticut river. He designed his home on the Connecticut river in Portland where he lived for over 30 years with cats and his beloved wife May.
He is survived by his sons, daughter, stepsons, grand-children and 3 great grand-children: Bill Upjohn and his wife Beth, Ann Reimels and her husband Bill, Tom Upjohn and his wife Peggy, Rich Upjohn, Ian Hair and his wife Betsy, and Dan Hair will miss him intensely.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will be in the Swedish Cemetery, Portland. Friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home
