Obituary of Bettina B. Portaluppi

Bettina B. Portaluppi 75 of Glastonbury, beloved wife of Edward Portaluppi passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 1, 2021 following a valiant and courageous battle with glioblastoma multiforme. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she was born on July 18, 1945 in Hartford to the late Beatrice and Lawrence Benech. Tina graduated from Glastonbury High School and went on to Wheelock College. She taught elementary school in Winchester MA and Glastonbury CT. She retired from teaching to raise her 2 children. She taught CCD for St. Paul’s and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for several years. She loved vacationing with her children and grandchildren on Cape Cod. She enjoyed her first trip to Disney World with her family. Later in life, she very much enjoyed watching her grandsons play sports. She was a beloved figure at Colchester Cougars Football field. Tina will be forever loved and always missed by her husband of over 50 years Edward of Glastonbury and her son Derek of Middletown and daughter Tara and her husband Eric Kundahl of Colchester. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Burleigh of S. Glastonbury, her mother in law Pierina Portaluppi, her brother in law John and his wife Darlene Portaluppi, her sister in law Marianne Plude, her grandson Keith and his wife Caitlin and her beloved grandson Tanner, her niece Janet and her children Ryan & Emily Kerr, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Tina was predeceased by her brother in law Sidney Burleigh and nephew James Burleigh. The family would like to personally thank Dr. Ahmad Dahar, Dr. Charles Rutter, Donna Avanecean and the nurses at Hartford Healthcare for their dedication to Tina during her illness. Funeral services and burial will be private. Friends can call on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave in Glastonbury. In order to adhere to current COVID 19 mandates, masks are required, and 6 feet of social distancing will be maintained. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center at Hartford Hospital in her name.
