My condolences to Jack’s family. I worked very closely with Jack for many years at The Travelers, and he was a good friend as well as a coworker. He was very intelligent, always professional, and personable. Large and important customers loved dealing with Jack. He was a true patriot having served his country with distinction for many years. For years Jack organized our twice a year retiree luncheons at Manchester Country Club. A wonderful, thoughtful gentleman. I will miss him.

As a classmate of Jacks I wish today i got to know him better. He lived only about 1/2 mile from me so more's the pity.
I must note, as only acquaintances, my fondest memory of him was his highly-memorable and well-executed dance "moves" with his (wife ?) at class dances and possibly reunions.
WELL DONE ! To a great American.

My deepest condolences to Jack's family. Although we worked in different departments while at The Travelers I had the pleasure of working with Jack on several special projects over the years and came to appreciate his business acumen and upbeat attitude. Prior to my retirement Jack invited me to his summer picnics at the lake house in Lebanon. I went to many over the years and it was great reminiscing with Jack and my old buddies from The Travelers He was a true gentleman, and will be missed. Thanks Jack for serving your family, friends, business associates, and your country so well. Rest in peace.

It was a shock when we heard of Jack's passing. Dana and I (Cub) became close neighbors of Jack and Kulli 2.5 years ago at Meadow Hill. They were great new friends and always pleasant and helpful with our new surroundings. We will miss Jack's smile and cheerfulness.

I've been Jack's friend for over 50 years. We were both Group Department underwriters at the Travelers. To say that he was outgoing and welcoming is an understatement. One anecdote--back when Estonia was still under the thumb of the USSR, Jack was in charge of carrying the Estonian flag to the State House every year--where CT would run it up the flagpole in support of Estonian freedom. I accompanied him one time, and as Jack handed the flag over to the State Rep. Jack was particularly concerned that the instructions on the flag's container be followed. Apparently the year before, the flag had been flown upside down! He made sure that THAT wouldn't happen again. Many times, Jack expressed his strong belief in the importance of friendship. He promoted this by hosting gatherings of Travelers' retirees at the Amston Lake house, and the Manchester Country Club. He will be sorely missed by his legion of friends.
Jeanne and I send our deepest commiserations and prayers to Kulli and the rest of the family. TA ELAGU.

Growing up Uncle Jack, (aka. Uncle Roo, Uncle Jaak, aka. Uncle Jaak-a-Roo), Auntie Kulli, Kaida & Katrin were our second family, so much so we referred to ourselves as the “Canavas’’’ or “Verapari’s’. Whether it be our annual RI family vacations at “Bonney’s Cottage”, trips to the lake house, holidays, birthdays, superbowls or the weekly “Yahtzee” games with my parents, Uncle Jack was always a big part of my childhood. And Who can forget his award winning home fries & wings! Even after I got married he was always there if I ever needed him. Uncle Jack was a generous, caring, kind person with a huge heart and I know I am one lucky person to have had the privilege to call him Uncle Jack.

I am at a loss for words. Jack was charming and distinguished. A great conversationalist who always showed interest in others. We spoke of his homeland often. Also of his service to this country. Truly an admirable person, who I will forever think of fondly. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and many dear friends. Rest in Eternal Peace Jack.

When we were growing up in Connecticut, all Estonian families knew each other. Jaak knew that Kulli lived at the Connecticut Institute for the Blind (where her mom and step dad (who I called Onkel) worked), but didn’t have a close connection with her until a fateful birthday party that another Estonian girl had. The birthday girl invited me, Jaak, Kulli, and maybe a couple of more Estonian kids to her party. I know she liked Jaak, but, from that day on, Jaak & Kulli started dating and dated no one else.
