We just found out about Karen’s passing. Our hearts go out to her family and friends. We knew Karen and her children from school with Lauren being in my Girl Scout troop when I was a leader and my daughter was a scout. Karen was always so kind and thoughtful and always willing to help with the girls and troop activities. It was also nice to see her in town and stop and catch up. Remembering Karen and thinking of her family ♥️ Robin and Emma Habzda

I worked with Karen for many years as she floated to our floor often. She was an amazing nurse much loved by her peers and patients. When I needed surgery and was on N8 I requested Karen to be my nurse because I knew I would get excellent care in her hands. She shared many stories of her family and loved her children very much. Karen will be missed by so many people, but especially her treasured husband and children. I send my prayers and condolences to her family. I will miss you Karen!

I am a former coworker of Karen’s sister Kim. I was about to have my first baby and Kim had told me all about her sister, a nurse at the hospital I where I would deliver. Karen turned out to be my nurse! It was obvious that she was excellent at her job, able to handle anything that came her way. She treated me with the utmost compassion, professionalism, and confidentiality. She went the extra mile. When I think about all the new moms Karen helped it brings a tear to my eye. I only new her for one shift but I’ll always remember her.

To Enda, Lauren, Meghan, and Aidan—Karen’s smile and always happy disposition was infectious. She was a devoted Mom and Julie loved hanging out at the Flynn’s house. Our adventure at the Sunflower Festival is among out best memories of her. Love and prayers always ❤️

Enda and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Karen at Rockville hospital for many years. We worked the night shift and shared stories of our families and I considered her a trusted friend. She was a wonderful, caring nurse and friend. I’m very sorry to say that when The Birthplace closed we parted ways as our lives were so busy with our family and work. I know she will be missed by many. With sincere sympathy, Joan Lawless

Karen was the L&D nurse who was with me the night before my first child was born. I was so scared and she helped me to stay calm. We shared stories and laughter that night. I was hungry and wasn’t allowed to eat and made a list of all the foods I was going to have after my baby was born. Chocolate chip cookies and milk was at the top of my list. The next day Karen made a special visit to come see me and my baby. She brought me milk and cookies! I will never forget her kindness. She really did angel work and helped so many people. Sending my sincere condolences to her whole family. Your mom was amazing.
