Obituary of Kevin E. Murphy

Kevin Eugene Murphy, 70, of Chatham, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at home with his wife and daughter, Megan, at his side.  Kevin graduated from East Patterson High School in 1969 and Rutgers University in 1973.  He went on to earn an MBA in Marketing at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  Kevin worked in the field of Industrial Supplies and was able to start his own business which he named Atlantic Sales. He was always a hard worker.

He was the devoted husband of Kate (nee O’Neill) and the loving father of Bill Murphy (Emilia) of Austin, TX, Megan of Austin, TX, and Dennis of Chatham, NJ. He was the dear brother of Lorraine Murphy of Lexington, SC, Doria Klypka of Budd Lake, NJ and Bill (Debbie) of Elmwood Park, NJ.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Jean Murphy.

Kevin loved spending time with friends and family.  He was called “Mr. Reliable” by his siblings.  He was always happy to help. He was married for 47 years and his wife and he enjoyed walks in the woods, birdwatching, and being by a lake or the seashore. His children remember him for his sense of humor and the many hours he spent with them.  He taught them how to fix things. He was a Boy Scout leader where he helped the boys to earn their religious award. His daughter and he enjoyed Yankee games together. He liked to paint landscapes. So many facets of his personality will be sorely missed by those he left behind.

There will be a Funeral Mass for him on Tuesday, November 23, at Holy Family Church, 185 Church St, Hebron, CT  06248.
