Obituary of Wesley Swanson
Wesley W. Swanson, 74, of Glastonbury, died peacefully at home Wednesday, April 17, 2013 with his wife Dorothy (Chadwick) Swanson of 42 years at his side. Born in Hartford, son of the late Carl and Freda (Wolfe) Swanson, he had lived in Wethersfield for 32 years prior to his marriage. After graduating from A.I. Prince Technical School he was employed as a cabinet maker by Display Workshop for many years and worked the next 18 years for F.D.I. Group of Farmington from which he subsequently retired. As a member of the Buckingham Congregational Church he served on the Board of Trustees. Over the years he designed and crafted many objects for the church's Early American Fair. During Wesley's retirement he donated his time and talent to the East Glastonbury Public Library for several of their woodworking projects. He would regularly be seen taking early morning walks with his beloved Collie, Molly. He was a former member of the CT. National Guard. Wes was predeceased by his brother Harvey J. Swanson of Wethersfield and is survived by several nieces and cousins. He also leaves two brothers-in-law and their families. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday April 20 at 11am in the Buckingham Congregational Church, 16 Cricket Lane, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation , 103 Old Iron Ore Rd., Bloomfield, CT. 06002 or to Buckingham Congregational Church.
