Obituary of Arnhild Znamierowski
Arnhild (Egelandsaa) Znamierowski “Arny”, 84, of South Windsor, wife of the late Donald Znamierowski, passed away on Friday September 2, 2022. Born March 23, 1938 in Vennesla, Norway, daughter of the late Olav and Aasta Egelandsaa, Arny came to the United States in the early 1960’s and settled in New York. She lived in Glastonbury for 25 years prior to moving to South Windsor 3 years ago. She was predeceased by her older sister Marta Lau and her son Robert Tomberg.
Arny studied finance and accounting and had a career working as an accountant. She married John Tomberg after meeting in NY, lived in RI, FL and then settled in Marlborough, CT. They had two children, Robert and Jennifer. When Jennifer was younger, they enjoyed time together riding, caring for, and showing horses. In 1995, she married Donald Znamierowski. After retirement, Arny and Don enjoyed traveling extensively in the US and abroad. Together they spent many happy winters in Florida and summers in Dayville, CT at the family cottage on Alexander Lake. She loved gardening, playing cards (Bridge Club), baking and cooking for parties and family holidays. Later in life Don and Arny discovered a shared passion for bicycling. They were members of several biking groups and enjoyed the comradery of their many biking adventures.
Arny is survived by her daughter Jennifer Rho and her husband Craig of South Windsor, 2 stepsons David M. Znamierowski and his wife Kimberly Haynes of Maine, Stephen J. Znamierowski of Vermont, 2 brothers Odd Egelandsaa and Syvert Egelandsaa and a sister Bjorg Reber, all in Norway. She also leaves 2 grandchildren Alex Rho and Kevin Rho and 4 step-grandchildren Anne and Alison Znamierowski and Elizabeth and Ryan Znamierowski. A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 12 at 1:00pm at The Congregational Church of South Glastonbury, 949 Main Street, South Glastonbury, CT. Reception to follow in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Arny's memory to The Congregational Church of South Glastonbury, PO Box 187, South Glastonbury, CT 06073.
