Obituary of Rev. Dr. Kenneth J. Hoyt

Rev. Dr. Kenneth J. Hoyt passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital, CT on August 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving immediate family. Rev. Hoyt is survived by Carol, his wife of 42 years, his son Nicholas and daughter-in-law Sheena Hoyt, grandson Remington J. Hoyt, sister Priscilla Clark, niece Linda Patrick, grandnephew Paul Patrick, niece Cynthia Latham and her husband Peter, grandnephew Jeffrey Latham, grandniece Diana Kinman and her husband Robert, and great-grandniece Savanna Faith Kinman. Ken was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hoyt and his brother-in-law, Rodney Clark. Rev. Hoyt was born in Woonsocket, RI to Jeannette (Fontaine) and Clifford Hoyt and he embarked upon a life path of several professional careers including newspaper ad salesman and editor, printing salesman to Fortune 500 and religious publishing companies, and in 1998, was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Christ, serving the Bethany-Peace UCC in St. Louis, MO. More recently, he pursued additional education and became a hospice chaplain for the Connecticut Hospice of Branford, CT. In his hospice work, he found his true calling and helped numerous families through the most difficult times of their lives. Rev. Hoyt graduated from Woonsocket High School as a history scholar and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in European History from the University of Rhode Island, a Master’s Degree in European History with an emphasis on Martin Luther and the Reformation from Villanova University, a Doctorate in Preaching from the Aquinas Institute in St. Louis, MO, two units of Clinical Chaplain Training (CPE) from St. Mary’s Hospital in Fall River, MA, and three additional units of CPE from Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, CT on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 2 to 4 PM. The funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rev.
