Obituary of Henry Hale Hunt

Henry “Hank” Hale Hunt, On the morning of Friday, September 9, 2022, Hank passed away peacefully in sleep. He was 79.

Hank was born and spent his life in Glastonbury. He was the only child of the late Donald H. and Greta (Roseen) Hunt.

Hank is survived by his best friend, Pamela Crouch, of Glastonbury, CT and her son Nick, of Tampa, FL; and two cousins, E. Hunt Coracci of Vancouver, WA and Deborah C. Armstrong of Northboro, MA.

He had a long career as an engineer at Pratt & Whitney, retiring after 30+ years.

Hank did not have any siblings, but in 2006 he met his best friend Pam and her son, Nick. They became an extended family to each other, and Pam and Hank were inseparable for the next 16 years. They shared many memories together, including Hank’s first airplane ride to Vegas. They traveled to many places, including Hank’s favorite island of Aruba, where he always had a smile on his face, relaxing by the ocean and talking to the locals and fellow vacationers. He loved visiting the restaurants on the island and meeting long life friends. Hank also enjoyed taking cruises, trips across the East Coast and was always up for an overnight in Mystic, CT. He enjoyed traveling to Nick’s soccer games in different states and always felt blessed that he was part of a family. Hank was a very special person to many, but the bond that Pam and Hank shared will not be forgotten. They were besties.

Hank also enjoyed trips with his buddies to see the UCONN girls’ basketball games (including a final four game), various University of Hartford athletic games, trips to Canada, or a simple drive to the Cape. He always enjoyed his visits to the local 99 Restaurant or the Arch Street Tavern in Hartford, and he would never refuse a chance to have a scotch & cigar with a fellow aficionado.

Hank was active in St. Luke’s Church in South Glastonbury, an active member of the Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury, and the Service Club of Glastonbury. He was also an avid Ham/Amateur Radio operator. He told many stories of the fox hunt out of Manchester that he participated in for many years. He enjoyed volunteering and any opportunity to meet new people. He would entertain people for hours with stories about his time at Pratt & Whitney, the history of his hometown and silly stories of useless information. He was known to friends as a walking encyclopedia or “Mr. Glastonbury”.

Everyone who knew Hank felt his big heart, kindness, generosity, and smile. The ladies always loved those beautiful baby blues and smirkish smile. He will be missed by all his friends and leave a void in many people’s lives and hearts. He was a beautiful human being and words here cannot describe what he meant to so many people. We love you Hank, and we will see you soon with a lobster in hand & a bib around our necks! And, not to worry, we will SMILE!

Funeral services and burial will be private. Friends may call on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Hank’s name to Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, 915 Main St., South Glastonbury, CT 06073.
