Obituary of Anita Mazzucchi
Anita (Sowalsky) Mazzucchi, 78, passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 23, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Anita was born in Reconquista, Argentina on July 17, 1944. She was the daughter of Morris and Mary Sowalsky. She came to the United States with her family in 1955 and attended Hartford schools. She graduated from Weaver High School in 1963 where she met her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph. Anita worked for a number of years before starting a family. After raising her children, Anita went back to work in real estate, first as an office manager and then as a successful real estate agent.
To Anita, her greatest accomplishments were her daughters, Lisa Burke (David) and Jennifer Morris (Patrick) as well as her grandchildren, Andrew and Benjamin Burke and Caroline, Kathryn and Sean Morris. Anita’s grandchildren affectionately referred to her as “Grammy”. She was so proud that she had the privilege of helping to take care of each grandchild for the first two weeks of their lives. Spending time with grandchildren, especially on vacation, gave Anita great joy.
Anita also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Betty Gross and Olga Smith, as well as her brother-in-law J. Gary Grant. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law Larry Gross and Jack Smith as well as sister-in-law Wendy Grant. Anita also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
Anita had many interests. She belonged to numerous book clubs and loved to read. She loved to cook, and Thanksgiving dinner was her specialty. However, the dinners she cooked for the Jewish holidays were also right up there! She loved pets, especially her cat Katie and her dog Chester. Although a reluctant traveler, she visited many exciting places around the world and was the best companion on any trip.
The family will be forever grateful for the staff at Addison Place for the compassionate care she received these past few months. The family would also like to thank the staff at VITAS Healthcare Hospice for their care. Calling hours will take place Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 am.
