From the hills of Vermont to the Accornero family i was in hopes of being there to tell you my thoughts in person i but the same man who called your father is messing with me in trying to get to town so hopefully this will help. Back n the day when i turned 16 after bugging Captain Dennler for about 16 years, he let me joinCo 3 as a junior member. As time went on, I met a girl from New Hampshire and we got married fifty years ago. We needed a place to live and found an apartment right by Co 2. At that time 2 was short drivers so I met Captain Accornero to drive 2 s trucks when I was home and Mario was a great leader. Shortly afterward the fire departments got together and created a softball league and yup Mario was umpire. I always felt that Mario was a great guy, a leader and fun to be around. As time went on getting more involved with the fire service, I learned a lot from your father. After moving to Vermont in 80s i missed a bunch of GFD guys. Still do. I did get to spend time with Mario at Co 3 old timers night and saw Mario spent some time talking all kinds of stuff from the day. All our best To you Louie, Jane ,Susan, Ann and Laura. Our prayers and sympathy are with you all! Don &Jo Anne Preuss
