Obituary of Lance Weir

Alanson “Lance” F. Weir, 63, of East Glastonbury, died Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. Born January 21, 1960, in Manchester, CT, he was a life-long resident of East Glastonbury. Lance graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1978 and was a member of Glastonbury Fire Dept., Co. 3 for 22 years. Prior to his retirement in 2021, he was a custodian at Glastonbury Public Schools. The old Eastbury Elementary School was his second home where the teachers, staff and students were like family. He loved NASCAR, his trips to Dover, and spending time at Black Top Beach in Misquamicut. Lance lived for taking care of his animals at the farm, gardening, and sharing the crop with his family and friends. He always looked forward to spending time with family at Aunt Diane’s and Aunt Bet’s lake house.  Lance is survived by his 5 brothers and their spouses, Leverett and Lynn Weir of Hebron, Ernest Weir of Glastonbury, Edmund Weir of East Hartford, Dale and Annemarie Weir of Glastonbury, John and Becky Weir of East Hampton and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, also two special neighbors who loved Lance, Sam and Grey. He was predeceased by his 2 sisters, Susanne Weir and Laura Finocche, her husband Biff, his sister-in-law Lee Weir and his aunt Diane Lingner and many other aunts and uncles. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 4 at 10:00 am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Neipsic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 3 from 4-6 pm.
