Obituary of Nancy O. O'Connell

Nancy O. O’Connell, 81, entered Eternal Life on 18 August 2023. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at her home parish, St Mary Church, Windsor Locks.

Nancy was the daughter of the late Lena and Louis Oliva. She was born in Windsor Locks and lived her adult life in Glastonbury. She was a graduate of The Mount and of St Joseph College, a teacher by vocation.

She is survived by her brother, Lewis Oliva of South Carolina; her nieces, Lauren Oliva of Boston, Massachusetts and Carla Oliva of New Hampshire; and many close friends. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Daniel P. O’Connell and her son, John T. O’Connell. It is our sure and certain hope that her noble soul is now with God, her husband and her son.

Nancy, a woman of great faith and prayer, lived her Catholic faith by helping others in need. Her philanthropic works were realized in the areas of healthcare for the working poor and in supporting youth ministry for the future of the Church; various Religious Orders as well as the Knights of Malta House of Care in Hartford and St. Francis Hospital’s Emergency Department.

Nancy was by avocation a longtime organist and choir director at St Augustine Church in South Glastonbury; a veracious reader who loved to needlepoint, and a master gardener.
