Obituary of Brenda K. Romeo
Brenda Romeo was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully in her home in Glastonbury, CT on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the age of 84. Brenda was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Heffernan. She was born and raised in Waterbury, CT and the oldest of 3 girls and big sister to Jane and Karen. She married the love of her life, Louis “Lou” Romeo, Sr. (affectionally known as Luigi by Brenda) of over 60 years, and together they raised 2 children, LR and Traci. She often said that behind every successful businessman is a strong woman, and together she and Lou built a successful business, West Side Marketplace in Rocky Hill where she worked with passion and pride. She leaves behind her daughter and best friend Traci and her husband Christopher, her sister Karen Voghel and her husband Tom, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Iris and Orlando Romeo, her daughter-in-law Helen Barnaby-Romeo, Kevin Shuler, who has been like a second son to her, many nieces and nephews, devoted friends, and the West Side family. We are certain that she was greeted with the biggest hug by her recently deceased and special sister-in-law Anna DeVivo. Brenda's biggest treasures and who brought her the most joy in life are her 2 grandchildren, Connor and Shannon who will miss their “beans” forever.
Brenda enjoyed all the best in life whether it was a great restaurant, socializing with longtime friends, trips to Italy, shopping sprees, winters in Jupiter Florida and summers at Cape Cod. She loved reading, gardening and decorating her homes for each season and holiday. She had a talent for making all things beautiful. Brenda was a gracious and generous lady who was loved by so many for her compassion, warm heart, and friendship.
We would like to give a special thank you to her aide Barbara Hall. This special lady was truly an angel that was hand-picked from Heaven by Lou to take the best care of her.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury followed by a funeral Mass at 12:00 pm.
