From our first job after high school, joining a bowling league and trying to learn to ski in a parking lot, Carol was a fun-loving friend. She welcomed my family and me into her her life and she became part of ours. When I brought a friend to the 1790 farmhouse, this visitor learned that Carol had moved in when she was 8 months pregnant with no running water. For months afterward, I was asked "How was my friend, the "pioneer"? I think Carol's pioneering spirit helped her navigate through life's ups and downs and made her the loving person she was.
