Obituary of Theseus George
Theseus “Theo” George, 90, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023, after a decades long battle with Leukemia. Theo was a lifelong learner and conveyor of knowledge to anyone willing to lend him their ear. A poor villager from war-torn Greece, Theo built an amazing life in the United States after immigrating here in 1946. Along with his two brothers, he built a family business that spanned from the Northeast to the Midwest. Theo was fiercely loyal to his family. He was intelligent, hardworking and an avid bodybuilder (he was Mr. New York in 1954). More than anything, Theo loved being “Papou” to his two grandchildren. He also loved playing chess, going to the gym and teaching everyone he met about Greek mythology. Theo was predeceased by his loving wife, Judy Allen George, his granddaughter, Danielle George, his brother, Stefanos George, his cousin, Voula Aronson, his mother, Anastasia George, and his father, Jordan George. Theo is survived by his son, Eric George, his daughter-in-law, Anne Creech George, his grandchildren, Cassandra and Alexander George, his brother, Nick George, his sister, Dawn Xanthoudakis, and his many nieces and nephews and their children. Theo was strong, intelligent, caring, confident, dedicated, witty, gregarious, and forever humorous. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful staff at The Residence at Glastonbury (aka The Hearth) who cared for Theo over the last two years. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday January 3 at 10am in Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to The American Cancer Society. For online condolences please visit www.mulryanfh.com
