Obituary of Christopher T. Kiniry
Christopher T. Kiniry, 66, of Glastonbury passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford, Christopher was the son of the late Joseph T. and Ann Lawton Kiniry. He graduated from East Catholic High School in 1975 and later obtained his BA in Business from the University of Hartford.
During his professional career, Chris owned Mortgage Works on Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury, CT. Chris found his passion working in the industry and was so grateful for the lifelong friendships he made along the way. He was fueled by working with close friends and neighbors before retiring in 2007.
Thanks to the Mortgage Industry and some matchmaking from his sister, Chris met his beloved wife Maureen in 1997. Though it only took 6 months, the couple was engaged in 1998 and wed later that year. Maureen and Chris portrayed the most sincere definition of true love for the next twenty-five years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Christopher is survived by his daughter Shannon Kiniry of Boston, MA. As his only daughter, Shannon and Chris had an extremely close relationship bonding over their love for music, Wordle, and watching the Red Sox together.
While it certainly was not in their projection for the years to come, Chris was diagnosed with ALS in 1999. Knowing the typical life expectancy for ALS to be 3-5 years, Chris defied every odd of the disease battling for over 24 years. Chris and his family are so grateful for the love, friendship, and, support provided by his caregiver Thomas. The twinkle in Chris’s eye and endless sense of humor was a true testament to his tenacious attitude and kind heart. Shannon and Maureen adored his endless determination often calling him “the strongest man we know.”
Chris is also survived by his two sisters Mary Duggan and her husband Edward Johnson of Wethersfield, and Kelly Meuser and her husband Christopher of Simsbury. Chris is also survived by his nephews Christopher and Patrick of Simsbury. He was predeceased by his daughter Mary Marguerite Kiniry and his sister Jo-Ann Kiniry.
