Obituary of Bruce E. Sutkowski
Bruce Sutkowski, 71, of South Glastonbury, beloved husband of Gail Wozenski, died January 6, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. He was born on July 4, 1952 to Phyllis (Maznicki) Sutkowski and the late Edward Sutkowski in Hartford. Bruce graduated from Syracuse University with dual degrees in Architecture and Psychology and received his Masters in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where Bruce met his wife Gail. For over thirty years, he worked as a financial planner at Ameriprise where his dedication to his clients and personal concern for their well-being as well as their families led to many wonderful friendships before he retired in September, 2023. Bruce loved being with his wife and children, reading crime novels, keeping up with current events and vacationing in Nantucket and Stowe, Vermont. Yard work, listening to The Beatles and watching his children play sports were very meaningful to him. He also enjoyed following his favorite sports teams, the New York Giants and Yankees, Syracuse basketball and UCONN basketball. He adored his many pets, especially our dogs, Angel, Rosie, Murphy, as well as Annie & Winnie his current dogs. Bruce had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling a good joke or an embellished story, which his family and friends will miss deeply. Besides his wife, Bruce is survived by his children Lauren Sutkowski and her partner JT Bunker of West Hartford, Joe Sutkowski of San Fransisco, Jason Sutkowski of Manchester, his sister Beth Mortimer and her husband Tom Mortimer of Bolton and his sister in law Susan Wozenski and her husband Stephen Havas of Timonium, Maryland. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Laut and Dr. Eric Silverstein for their exceptional medical expertise and compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, 949 Main St., South Glastonbury on Saturday, January 13 at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions on Bruce’s behalf may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) PO Box 5021, Hagerstown, MD, 21741-5021.
