I met Dr. Lehman when I was 15 in 1995 after I had suffered a series of incredibly painful ear infections. They just kept happening back to back from the time I was a kid and not one single doctor could figure out what was going on. We finally got Dr. Lehman‘s name and made an appointment after I suffered complete hearing loss in my right ear. Within 20 minutes of my appointment with Dr. Lehman he had figured out what was wrong and scheduled my surgery as by that time it had become pretty urgent. Had I not found Dr. Lehman when I did it was very likely that I was going to suffer, bare minimum, facial paralysis and I was scared to death. I will never forget how loving and comforting Dr. Lehman was to me at such a young age during such a scary time. I will never forget laying in the operating room getting prepped by the nurses for surgery, and I started to cry. I told them I was scared and they asked what I needed and I said I needed to see Dr. Lehman. He came right into the room, wiped my tears and promised me everything would be OK. And everything was OK. Dr. Lehman took care of me for many years and got my ear where it needed to be, saving me from a lifetime of pain and facial paralysis. I will be forever grateful for how he saved me medically but I will never forget the love and comfort that he gave so freely while he was caring for his me. He was truly a wonderful man and here I am at 45, 30 years later, crying my eyes out that he’s gone. I am so sorry to his family and everyone who loved him. He was a wonderful, magical man.

We always looked forward to seeing Bill at Emily's birthday parties. He had a quiet, calm, yet strong presence. It was evident that he was a caring man who loved his family and adored spending time with his grandchildren.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family during this difficult time.
Love,
Fred, Kim and Valerie

Fifty years ago Dr. Lehmann performed surgery on my 5 year old son. We were all very frightened of the operation and possible consequences. Dr. Lehmann was very upfront with us but assured us he would do his best. Which he did. Dr. Lehman was a doctor who was comforting and sympathetic. I will always remember him.

My wife Pamela and I were saddened to read of Bill's passing. He was a really special person and a talented, empathetic physician. As parents we saw first hand how effectively and careingly he treated our sons. He was a leader as a member of the Hartford Hospital Medical Staff. A real progressive thinker. We were fortunate to have him as a physician and staff leader when big changes were needed. I have many positive memories.
Our most sincere condolences go to Joyce and the entire family.
