Val, your passion for education and community were so evident and part of who you were. I learned so much from you during our time on the the ABC board. I am so grateful for the privilege of knowing and working with you.

Aunt Val you will truly be missed. You always showed Lennox and I love and we thank you!! I loved coming to your home to visit with Nicole. You made me feel like family. I remembered coming over to help assist with Grandma and that was a treat for me! Your memories will forever be in my heart. Love always, Jazzmyne and Lennox

Cousin Val, affectionately known as “Vallie” holds a special place in the hearts of the Connors family. She was beautiful inside and out. I can recall her proudly sharing with her Aunt Ellen all of her son, Brandon’s accomplishments. She truly loved her family and always welcomed us with open arms. To me personally she embodied class and sophistication - she had it all. She was a role model for both my sister (Melissa) and I (Sharawn), we knew that wanted to be seen with that same class and sophistication that Cousin Val, Cousin Jan and Aunt Gladys all had so naturally. We will forever hold a place in our hearts and memory of our dear sweet cousin Vallie. Love and Light, Aunt Ellen and the Connors Family.

Val and I worked closely together at Eastbury School in the '70' s. I can still see her little second graders coming up to her with the smallest of problems ( big ones to them, however)...and Val would have them calmed down in no time. Her soft spoken voice, her award-winning smile and nurturing ways gave them just what they needed...validation, empathy, kindness and a path forward to carry on with confidence.
My heart is heavy for her family.

My life included memories of summers spent with Vali at my house or hers. We used to role play teacher and student at that young age. A memory Vali liked was riding on my bike handles! Valerie was sweet and strong. I will miss her.

Our deepest sympathy goes to Louis & his family. I will never forget the loving educational experience our daughter had in her classroom at Hopewell School. She was obviously a very talented teacher! We also had the pleasure of caring for her at Nayaug Family Dental, and it was sincerely OUR pleasure. to know Valerie & Louis a little bit better. Peace to her memory, love to the family, Dale & Brian Chiffer

When I first moved to CT 25 years ago, Val was one within a group of women who embraced me and took me under her wing as a surrogate “Auntie”. As a fellow teacher of color in Glastonbury, she made sure I felt seen, connected and less alone. This group of women were role models and Val’s class, style and grace were always at the core of who she was. That distinctive voice, that bright, open smile. So many Friendsgivings, Christmas parties, summer cookouts. I teased her often whenever she was beaming to share a proud moment about Brandon (of which there were many) because she always started her brag with “My Brandon” - Oh how she loved you!! I will never forget her kindness, warmth and her consistent opening of her home to me (then to my hubby and children) ensuring that this girl from Brooklyn felt like she had family away from home. Brandon and Louis - Cecil and I send our deepest condolences and hold Val in our hearts
