Obituary of Ann L. Panek
Ann L. (Monaco) Panek, 88, of Glastonbury passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Bill Panek for sixty-five years.
Born in Hartford, Ann was the daughter of the late Peter Monaco & Kate (Conforti) Monaco. She was raised in Glastonbury and graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1954. Ann married Bill in 1956 and remained a Glastonbury resident her entire life. She was a kind, gentle and generous person. Ann enjoyed volunteering her time at Cathy’s Nursery School which she did for many years. She was very proud to be a Monaco and took great pride knowing the business her father started in 1922 is still going strong today. She was the last living child of Peter and Kate’s ten children.
Ann & Bill attended many events in Glastonbury such as the Riverfront summer concert series, St.Paul’s pasta dinners, POC ravioli dinners and Monaco’s antique car shows. They routinely went to McDonald’s for breakfast, chatting all morning with friends from their senior group. On the weekends, you would find them at the Glastonbury Coffee Shop or Ken’s Corner.
Ann adored her grandsons and enjoyed watching them grow up throughout the years. She especially looked forward to their ‘Tuesday date nights’ where they could be spotted at many local restaurants.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Bill Panek and leaves behind her only daughter Diane and son-in-law Hans Kretzmer of Glastonbury, her grandson Nicholas Kretzmer and his wife Amanda, a great granddaughter Natalie Ann, and grandson Daniel Kretzmer, all of Glastonbury. She also leaves many adoring relatives and friends.
