Obituary of Edith Daigle
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Edith (Cormier) Daigle, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law, on March 28, 2024. Born in St. Maurice, New Brunswick, Canada, on October 28, 1936, to the late Joseph and Genevieve (LeBlanc) Cormier, she was one of 14 children. After emigrating to the U.S., she and her husband, Norman, settled in East Hartford, making it their home for over 60 years. She was a devout Catholic, a longtime communicant of St. Christopher's Church, and a devoted mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her childrens and their spouses, Joanne (Ray) Halle and Ronald (Charron) Daigle, all of Ellington, CT; three grandchildren, Raymond (Mary) Halle, Nikki (Christian) Hakim, and Melissa (JT) Sprague; and even great-grandchildren, Joanna, Madeline, and Genevieve Halle; Andrew and Natalie Hakim; and Keaton and Roman Sprague. She also leaves behind her brothers, Aubrey, Emile, and Andre; sisters, Nelida Savoie, Bernice Bastarache, and Marie Bastarache; and many nieces and nephews. Edith enjoyed spending time in New Brunswick, surrounded by the love of her family, baking apple pies, and playing a fun game of cards.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Norman; her son, Dennis; her sister, Stella; and her brothers, Angelo, Clarence, Rheal, Bernard, Harve, and Henri of NB.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, April 3 from 5pm to 7pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
