Ronny, Phil and the Niedzwiecki family,
It is with great sadness that I found out about Tommy's passing. Tommy was just one of the most genuine people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I can still hear his laugh. My boyhood memories of our baseball, football and basketball games at the Garden School playground were special. Later, I played softball w/ Tommy on my Cousin George's softball teams and ran into him on occasion in the West Hartford area when he worked for the Town's PD. After I retired form my Superintendent's position in Shelton, Tommy and I met for lunch on a few occasions in Glastonbury, pre-COVID. We were in touch from time to time vial text but I will always lament not reconnecting w/ him again recently. I know he loved babysitting his Grandkids and his family. He was just the "best of the best!" My prayers as with his family at this time. He will be missed!!
PS I wondered were Ronny's other nickname "Trouble" was?
God Bless\

My deepest sympathies,
I am so sorry Kathy for your loss, though I've never met you, but I want to express my condolences to your entire family; his daughter, son-in-law, stepchildren and granddaughters.
I'm Joel (Linc), an old friend from college. Tom (Niedz) and I stayed in touch over the years. I was blessed to know him. He always made everyone around him feel loved and appreciated, He had a quiet wisdom and at the same time was a joy to be with. I'm sorry that my UConn college friends lost their very close friend, especially Ray (Boz) and Tom (Smart). I also want to express my condolences to Tom's (Niedz's) brothers (Ronnie and Phil) and sister Joann.

I was so sorry to hear Ron and Phillip about Tom. We had some good times together with friends back in high school years. I’m sure his smile and quick wit won over many new and lasting friendships. Rest in peace Tom and my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

My Heart is so saddened as I just learned of the passing of Tom. We worked together in different departments at the Town of West Hartford but I knew Tom and always loved the chance to talk to him.
When he was sick many years back, I remember asking God to heal him- our faith brought us together and I will always remember him as the most wonderful guy you could ever know. He was so kind and always seemed to have a smile on his face.
I was thrilled that he had such a lovely partner, Kathy and so happy they had many years together too.
Tom was one of the best guys at the Town and I am sorry to say I lost touch when we both retired.
I know that God has blessed him for his kindness and I pray that he is now with the Lord in paradise.
My deepest condolences to Kathy and his family. My only regret is that I wasn't there to pay my respects in person.

Tom was one of my closet friends all through high school. He and I were always tinkering with our cars - his Mustang and my 63 Chevy were constant companions and a source of enormous pride. Tom waxed that Mustang every month; it was never dirty. We were both into music and pursued our passions by buying up albums on release day, turning on our friends via our incredible car and home stereo systems, and attending concerts and local live music performances. My rock and roll band, The Wanderers, practiced next door in the England's garage and Tom supported us in every way including being our equipment guy on many occasions. I think he secretly wanted to be in the band! He was a huge Steely Dan fan and his passion for them became a lifelong passion of mine as well. He was a constant source of laughter and a companion in so many good times and close calls. We had some marathon hide and seek games in the neighborhood - there were so many good hiding spots. His mom and dad were so supportive of Tom's friends even though I'm sure they cringed every time we came to the door to take Tom on his next adventure. The cops knew who we were but were never able to pin us down - except the time Donnie A got arrested for pool hopping with us. One day a few years back, I was walking down the street in Portsmouth, NH - possibly the only time I had been to that town - and Tom called out my name as we were passing on the sidewalk. Our comrades couldn't pull us apart as we had so much to catch up on. We finally parted and rekindled our friendship via email and a single visit to his home in Connecticut not that long ago. We, of course, promised each other to get together again soon but alas life got in the way for both of us and we never made it happen again. I am grieving today the loss of my old friend and my heart goes out to his wife who I only met that once and to Ron and Philip (Cheesy Boy?). I'm in South Carolina as I write this but if I was at home in NH I would have made the trip to the mass tomorrow. I'll miss you Tom. You were one of a kind and a best friend.

To Kathy and her family, and to the entire Niedzwiecki family, I express my deep sadness on the passing of Tommy. You are all like family to me, even though we haven't seen each other in many years. I have so many fond memories of hanging out at the Niedzwiecki house. Tommy was such a wonderful guy and he will surely be missed. Please accept my deepest condolences.

My very favorite memory of Tom was on the golf course at Rockledge CC in West Hartford. It was probably about 25 years ago. Tom and I and another guy played as a threesome in the annual Town of West Hartford employee golf outing. I can't recall who the third player was.
All morning and early afternoon that day we wondered if the event would be canceled, due to the threat of rain. It was late September and it was a particularly cold day and a decision was made to give it a try.
When we arrived at the golf course, Tom decided to brave the elements and take his chances walking around the course, pulling his bag along behind him. He looked very dapper in his golf windbreaker and his stylish golf slacks.
Everything was going swimmingly until about the 7th or 8th hole. That is when the rain started. Within minutes, having no umbrella to shield him, Tom was drenched. We kept offering Tom the option to just call it quits but he was determined to see the round through to the end. Under the protection of the roofed golf cart the third guy in our group and I trudged on as well.
After about the 12th hole or maybe the 13th hole Tom was standing at the tee box shivering and dripping wet. We just looked at him and told him he looked like a drowned rat. We insisted that we needed to call it quits. Finally he agreed. We somehow managed to have him sit on the rear fender of the golf cart tugging his pull cart behind him.
What a trooper Tom was. There was just no quit in him. I will always consider him a close friend whom I loved dearly. I will forever miss his joyous smile and his cheerful disposition. Peace be with you my brother.
