Obituary of Laura Elizabeth Funderburk

Laura Elizabeth Funderburk, 55, of Middletown passed Friday, August 30, 2024. She was born in Ames, Iowa on April 1, 1969, to James O. and the late Linda (Owen) Funderburk. Laura graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from UCONN and worked as a graphic artist across several companies with the longest tenure at Liturgical Publications Middletown. Laura was a lover of plants, hand illustration, photography, and cats. Her life was full when visiting with family, always joyous participating in the games, cooking session, and celebrations at the fullest. Her demeanor was open and frank, always seeing things for what they could be rather than accepting what they are. She strived for and worked hard to make life better for herself and others. She was a dedicated member and active weekly with Victory Church in Middletown. She was deeply religious and found safety and healing through her connection with God and ministry for her church.

Laura is survived by her father, brother Karl of Plainville, brother Mark and his wife Leigh, of Southbury, and their daughters Theresa, and Lucia as well as Owen and Funderburk family from North Carolina. Laura was predeceased by her mother Linda and nephew, Otto. Calling hours will be held Friday, September 13 from 4pm to 6pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, September 14, at 1 pm at the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, 949 Main St., South Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of CT through https://epilepsyct.com/donate/, and/or the Victory Church at 191 Meriden Road, Middletown, CT 06455 or https://www.ourvictory.org/give/.
