Obituary of Alan Jerome Wagner
Alan Jerome Wagner, 86, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Jean (Grady) Wagner, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Born in Milwaukee, WI, on October 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Jerome and Margaret (Abendroth) Wagner. Alan served in the Army National Guard Reserves and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University. He worked in commercial banking, specializing in financial reporting, for 30 years before retiring.
Alan was a proud and humble husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished time with his family and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Red Sox. He was a former member of the Greendale Jaycees and the Glastonbury Elks Lodge 2202, where he was awarded Elk of the Year 1990-1991. In addition to playing bridge, Al's other passions included traveling, golfing, and an interest in airplanes, trains, automobiles, birdwatching, gardening, and photography.
Al was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all, including his wife, Jean; his two daughters, Barbara Bashaw and her partner Douglas Elkins of NJ, and Peggy Wagner of East Lyme; his brothers, Merl Wagner and his wife Shirley, and Brian Wagner and his wife Rose, all of WI; and his grandchildren, Joshua Chaffee and his wife Sarah, Aaron Chaffee, Gabrielle Bashaw, and Liam Elkins. He also leaves behind extended family and friends. Alan was predeceased by his son, Michael Alan Wagner, and his brother, Denis Jerome Wagner.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Ss. Isidore and Maria Parish at Saint Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Interment will follow immediately at Green Cemetery.
