I have known Karen since her arrival in CT. Her service to Civil Air Patrol and the community is a shining example for all. Many young cadets looked up to her for her wisdom and guidance. They are now adults and have her to thank for their current success in life. Individuals like Karen are few and far between. She will be missed.

I remember the service of Col. Payne as a wing commander for CTWG CAP. I was a young cadet back in 2004 when one of the cadets in my unit made his C/2nd Lt. and was heading off to USAFA. Col. Payne came down to present him with his Mitchell award. Col. Payne was a nice lady.
