I waited on Mrs Carroll many, many times at Birch Hill Tavern and also a few times at 2 Hopewell. She was always so lovely and so appreciative of everything. She also often times had a lovely chuckle that really amused me. Like the day we ran out of tanqueray and Mr Carroll exclaimed "horrors" and switched to bombay sapphire and enjoyed it immensely! Mrs Carroll got a chuckle out of that. I remember the day the Carrolls came in early for lunch because Mrs Carroll had lost her pocketbook and thought she might have left it at the restaurant. I was so worried for her and told her I would pray to St Anthony to find lost items ( I couldn't remember if that was the right Saint and she also got a chuckle out of that) I was so happy when I later heard she found it! I also went to college in Providence so I much enjoyed hearing the Carrolls speak of Brown University,how impressive! I am deeply saddened by her passing as I am sure you all are. She was so lovely. I will again pray to St Anthony and I hope Mrs Carroll will be pleased with that.
