Obituary of John Heacock
John R. Heacock, 89, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Althea (Zimmerman) Heacock, died Wednesday December 18, 2013 at home. Born August 6, 1924 in Camden, NJ, son of the late Ralph H. and Erma (Russell) Heacock he had lived in Glastonbury since 1955. John graduated from Indiana University in 1949 and was a Senior Credit Analyst for Dunn & Bradstreet retiring in 1986. John served in the European Theatre in the Army Combat Engineers, building bridges & roads from France to Germany & was present at the Battle of the Bulge. He married Althea in 1969, he believed The Lord brought them together. He credits her with providing him the most rewarding years of his life. 47 years prior, he never would have known she would become his soul mate, best friend & wife. "Until we meet again Alphy." He was a member of the Glastonbury Lions Club for over 50 years, serving in multiple positions including past president, longtime treasurer as well as a recipient of the Melvin Jones award. He was a board member of the YMCA, a member of the Masons & a volunteer with FISH & TRIAD. His hobbies included stamp collecting, reading, model railroading, volunteering & most important my wonderful family. Besides his wife he is survived by four sons and their spouses: Russell Dana Heacock and Sal Scalione of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Stephen J. and Rose Heacock of York, ME, Robert A. Heacock of Calias, ME, Gregory C. Heacock of Vernon, four daughters & their spouses Susan E. and Stephen Mina of Chandler, AZ, Amy N. and Christopher Bahadosingh of Newington, Tanya J. Heacock of Wethersfield, Sara T. and Paul Lechowicz of Glastonbury, three brothers Ronald Heacock of MT. Laurel, NJ, Richard "Bink" and Maureen Heacock of Haddenfield, NJ, Douglas Heacock and Brian Buckley of Chatham, NJ, and a sister Carol and Jack Henn of Newtown Square, PA and four grandchildren; Curtis and Timothy Mina and Ashley and Teegan Bahadosingh. He was predeceased by three brothers David P. Heacock, Ralph H. Heacock, Jr and Lawrence " Peter" Heacock. Funeral service will be Monday Dec. 23 at 11am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial with full military honors will follow in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday Dec. 22from 2-4pm.
