Obituary of Donald Neales
Donald O. Neales, 84, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Rosella (Dalessio) Neales, died Sunday January 5, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Born April 12, 1929 in Hartford son of the late Joseph B. and Iva (Glines) Neales, he was a lifelong resident of East Hartford. He worked for the State of Connecticut for over 30 years and retired as an elevator inspector for the State Police Department. Donald was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hartford , was an American Red Cross swimming instructor for the Boy Scouts and held his E1 electrical license. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Besides his wife of 64 years he is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Gail and Robert J. Therian of Colchester, Cheryl and William Winter, IV of Glastonbury, three grandchildren; Matthew Therian and his wife Kristine of Berkeley, CA, Michael Therian and his significant other Lindsay Graves of Colchester, William "Billy" Winter, V of Glastonbury, his beloved sisters-in-law Dorothy Garrity of Granby and Joann Dalessio of Manchester and all his beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leo and Joseph "Bud" Neales and a sister Corrine Evelyn Froelich. The family would like to thank his surgeon Dr. Quadri and the staff of the cardiac ICU for their care and compassion shown to their father during his illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Jan. 10 at 1:00pm in St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester (everyone please meet at church). Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday Jan 9, from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hartford Stage Company, 50 Church St., Hartford, CT. 06103 or to the Colchester Fuel Bank, 127 Norwich Ave., Colchester, CT. 06415.
