Obituary of George Austin

George W. Austin, Jr., 85, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Eunice (Hoffman) Austin, passed away Thursday April 10, 2014 at Hartford Hospital with his wife and children by his side. Born August 7, 1928 in Hartford son of the late George W. Sr. and Kathleen (Holihan) Austin, he had lived in Glastonbury for the past 49 years. George graduated from Trinity College in 1951 and RPI in 1952 and was an Engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 30 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Eunice in their Winnebago and especially loved camping on Martha's Vineyard. He enjoyed time in April on St. John, spending time with friends at Lake Winnipesauke and building model airplanes. Besides his wife of 53 years he is survived by a son George W. Austin, III and his wife Jennifer Ann Hedlund, a daughter Kathleen Austin Russo and her husband John Anthony Russo and his adored grandson Jason Austin Russo. He also leaves a sister Sarah Austin and cousins Jan and George Kelly and Muriel Anderson. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step mother Mary Doohan Austin. Special love and thanks to Arlene Dunn and her family for their loving care. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00am. A funeral service will follow at 11:30am in the South Congregational Church, corner of Main and High Sts., South Glastonbury. Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury.
