Obituary of Nicholas Davis
Nicholas Davis, 82, of Glastonbury, husband of Nancy Gould Davis, died on April 17th. Born in Pittsfield, Mass. on April 9, 1932, he resided in Glastonbury for the past 42 years. He is survived by his beloved Nancy, to whom he was married for 58 years. He was the son of Allan and Kathryn Davis, and grew up in North Adams, Mass. While residing in North Adams, he was a member of the North Adams Country Club, the Rotary Club, and an incorporator of the North Adams Hoosac Savings Bank, as well as having served on the North Adams School Committee. Nick graduated from Drury High School and Colgate University. Following graduation, he served in the US Air Force as a navigator. He was then employed by the Cascade Paper Company, and then the Ford/Malcom Insurance Company. Upon moving to CT., he was employed by the R.H.Lord Company for 25 years, retiring in 1996. After retiring, he and Nancy spent many winters in Florida, and he was an active volunteer with the Glastonbury FISH organization. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kim Green, husband Jeff, and children Erin and Riley of Monroe CT, Robin Daigle, husband Ron and children Taylor, Courtney, and Nicole of West Suffield CT, Allan Davis, wife Tiffany and children Olivia and Violet of Lamoine, Maine, and Matthew Davis, wife Cathy and children Connor, Christian, and Lauren of Fairfield CT. He also leaves his sister Kathryn of Kerrville, Texas, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Kirk( June 2011, survived by partner Frank Hagaman) and his sister Virginia (October 2013). Nick will be remembered by many friends and family as the outgoing, social "salesman". Always a smile to greet both friends and strangers, he was gracious in opening his home with warmth and hospitality. 12 Robin Road is considered an entertaining center where the house is filled with laughter and fun and always presided over by Nick. His sense of humor and positive outlook carried Nick through his life. Quick with a joke while offering something to eat or drink made Robin Road a cherished destination. His words of wisdom will long be remembered fondly by his children. A member of the Glastonbury Hills Country Club, he shot a game, though respectable, was one he played for fun. A memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday April 22 at 11am in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. For online condolences please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
