Obituary of Joseph Kaminski

Joseph (Minki) Kaminski of Glastonbury passed away on Friday morning, April 25, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford on May 23, 1922, the son of the late John and Frances Kaminski. He was a 1940 graduate of Hartford Public High School and served in the South Pacific in WWII as part of the First Marine Air Wing as a radar operator. He was an avid fan of the Hartford Whalers, Red Sox, and UCONN basketball. He was proud of his Polish heritage and loved telling stories about growing up in Hartford, being in the Marine Corps in WWII, and working at Northeast Savings Bank. He enjoyed spending time with his close-knit family along with weekly breakfasts at Hotcakes and meals at Shady Glen and Ken's. He is survived by his dear wife of 67 years, Ruth; two devoted children and their spouses - Carol and Peter Kiebish Jr, Robert and Carol Kaminski; loving grandsons Joseph Kiebish, Michael Kiebish and his wife Christina; two adored great-granddaughters, Haley and Emily; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Agnes Kaminski, Helen Thompson, Catherine Kaminski, and Bernice Kriss and his mother-in-law, Mary Victorick, who lived with his family for many years. The family gives heartfelt thanks to Drs. Arjun Banerjee and Robert Lowe for the care they provided after life-saving surgery, which gave him the blessing of five additional years and allowed him to attend his grandson's wedding and to enjoy his two great-granddaughters. They also thank the Palliative Care staff at Hartford Hospital for their support over the past week. Visiting hours will be TODAY/Tuesday April 29 at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury from 5-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday April 30 at 10am at St. Augustine Church, South Glastonbury, followed by burial with military honors in St. Augustine Cemetery.
