Obituary of Elizabeth Pane

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Pane, 70, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of 35 years to Vincent Pane, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Hartford Hospital. Born February 7, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York, Betty was the daughter of the late John and Grace Hands. She had lived in Glastonbury for 35 years. Prior to her retirement, Betty had been a legal secretary for Shipman & Goodwin. Betty enjoyed weekends at Eastover, a resort in the Berkshires where she met her husband and many lifelong friends. Betty and Vinny enjoyed the tranquility of spending summers at their cottage on Lake Terramuggus in Marlborough. Always a New Yorker, Betty loved traveling to the city to reconnect with her girlfriends over lunch or shopping. She also cherished her walks along the beach with Vinny in Fort Myers, Florida, and all the friends they made during their many winters residing there. Besides her beloved husband, she is survived by a sister, Grace Ryder of Florida, a brother-in-law, Charles Carroll of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Kathy Carroll. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 5-7pm. A service will follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 US Highway One, North Brunswick, New Jersey 08902-4301.
