Obituary of Claudia Rocchi
Claudia (Malvicini) "Dina" Rocchi, 96, of Windsor formerly of Glastonbury, wife of the late Charles Rocchi, died Thursday (Dec. 2, 2010) at the Chestnut Point Care Center. Born May 24, 1914 in Colanzo, Italy, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Lopena) Malvicini, she came to the United States at the age of 13 and lived in Hartford. She moved to Glastonbury in 1938 and had lived there until moving to her daughter's home in Windsor 2 years ago. Dina and her husband owned and operated the Buck's Corner Restaurant in Glastonbury for many years. She was a member of the St. Augustine Church Altar Guild, the Emblem Club in East Hartford, the Ladies Auxiliary at Company 3 in South Glastonbury and the Glastonbury Senior Citizens. Dina is survived by her daughter Mary Ann (Rocchi) Pontillo of Windsor, 2 sons and daughters-in-law Charles J. and Margaret Rocchi of Windsor Locks, James A. and Sally Rocchi of Coventry, 7 grandchildren Joanne and Jack Watson of Morgantown, West Va., Deanna and James Thomas of Charlotte, NC, Dori Bessette Crail of Manchester, Robert Williams, Jr. of Enfield, Kathy Donahue of NY, Lori Donahue of NJ, Tom Donahue of Chicago, 7 great grandchildren Matthew, Alex, Katherine, Sean, Michael, Samantha, Jessica , a nephew Richard Malvicini of Newington, a sister-in-law Louise Malvicini of Farmington. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Bernard and Rudolph Malvicini and a sister Rose Balletti. The family would like to thank Dina's caregivers Gillian Brown, Kay Gregory and Sonia Cabezudo and the staff at Chestnut Point Care Center for the wonderful care given to their mother. Funeral service will be Monday Dec. 6 at 9:15am from the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday Dec. 5 from 3-6pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or to the CT. Children's Medical Center Foundation, 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford, CT. 06106.
