Obituary of Edward Rakowski

Edward P. Rakowski, 80, of Glastonbury, husband of Mildred (Meade) Rakowski, died Wednesday February 8, 2012. Born April 30, 1931 in Meriden, son of the late Henry and Mary Rakowski he had lived in Glastonbury since 1963. Ed proudly retired from IBM in 1991 after 35 years of service as a Customer Engineer. Ed had honorably served in the US Navy during the Korean War with an Electronic Technician rating. Besides his wife he is survived by his 3 children and their spouses; Philip and Vanessa Rakowski of Somers, Suzanne and Kris Aberg of Glastonbury, Steven and Kate Rakowski of Colchester and 5 grandchildren; Max and Joy Aberg, Matthew, Kevin and Dillon Rakowski. It was a good day for Ed when he finished the crossword puzzle, the Red Sox won or his grandchildren would visit. Ed also enjoyed regular get togethers with his fellow IBM retirees. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 10:00am until 1:00pm. A luncheon will follow at the Gallery Restaurant, 141 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury.
