Obituary of John Williams

John J. "Jack" Williams, 78, longtime resident of Mystic, CT and winter resident of North Palm Beach, FL, died Saturday (February 18, 2012) in Glastonbury. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Elaine (Kolodziej) Williams. Jack was born in Scranton, PA, the son of the late John G. and Elizabeth (Ryan) Williams. He grew up in Hartford and raised his family in East Hartford. He worked for the State of Connecticut for 25years as an air pollution engineer. Jack will be remembered for his sociability, enthusiasm, and interest in current issues. He loved to entertain family and friends and was never happier than when he was organizing and hosting an event that brought together the people he cared about. An avid and lifelong boater, Jack loved spending time on the water and working on the many projects involved in owning and maintaining boats. His boating adventures took him from Canada to Bermuda and included five winters in Florida living with Elaine aboard "Ariel". Besides his wife, Elaine, he is survived by his two sons Michael and his wife Maureen Williams of Glastonbury, and Douglas Williams and his partner Lisa Linn of Canton; his brothers and sisters; Betsy and Bernard Bussiere of East Hartford, Mary and Leo Bussiere of Uxbridge, MA, Robert and Diane Williams of East Windsor, William and Geraldine Williams of Glastonbury, Carol Williams of Deerfield, MA, his grandchildren; Ryan, Stephanie, Annie, Patrick, and Tyler Williams. A funeral service will be held Tuesday (Feb. 21, 2012) at the Mulryan Funeral Home 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private.
