Chris was my mentor, a man who taught me a trade which supported me and my family for almost 30 years. He gave me my work ethic and was the model on which my partner and based our company. I haven't seen Chris since his retirement party, but there is not a week that goes by that he doesn't cross my mind. I still tell "Chris stories" to the people here in SC. I know how much he loved his family and I believe that he will miss you as much as you will miss him. He was a true gentleman. The only thing that I know of that he didn't do well was sing Country Western songs. Sincerely and with the most respect possible, Charlie Leonard

I worked for Chris for two years when I first started in the trades. 35 years later I am still in the business. My best day, over that time, would never equal one of Chris's average days. He set a standard I have been chasing for 35 years. I have to thank him for that. God bless

Uncle Chris was a very big part of my life, as he was only a few steps away. Every year he was our Santa Claus and as a child I couldn’t understand why when Santa showed up, Uncle Chris always missed him! At Halloween, Uncle Chris would give me the trick (an apple) and Aunt Connie always came through with the treat. Growing up, Paul and I would spend hours building and tearing down forts in the backyard. Uncle Chris would bring home building materials and carpet squares from work for us to use. After we had built and tore down several forts Uncle Chris thought we should have a “real” fort, so he built us one, which we never used! Uncle Chris would scold us for sledding into the tree in the winter and hose us down when we got into a mud fight in the summer. So many memories. Thank you Uncle Chris for everything, you will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world. I love you very much and will miss you making faces at me. Your neice, Robin

I know we will all miss Uncle Chris. I remember when my son Jeffrey was 2 and he used to yell out the window from next door to "Opie door, Unca Chris, Opie door!" The kids love to go over and visit and play (and sneak candy), even as they have gotten older. He would always say to Connie, "You 'bout ready there, dear?" when he was ready to leave Joe and Gip's house. I always waited for her to say "no" but she never did. I feel lucky that I have had the last 21 years to know him and I am sure there are lots of other great memories that others have to share.
