Obituary of Lois Dunn
Lois Doten Dunn, 93, of Glastonbury, CT, formerly of East Hartford and Bloomfield, loving wife of the late James G. Dunn, died on September 9th at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Calais, ME on February 2, 1918, the daughter of Adelbert and Marion Doten. Her family relocated to Hartford in 1924. She graduated from Weaver High School in 1936, after which she was employed by The Hartford Fire Insurance Company. Lois, a loving wife and mother, was a member of the Rosary Society at Christ the King Church in Bloomfield. She was very devoted to her faith and remained so her entire life. She was also an excellent cook, a wonderful gardener and an avid reader. For many years she was a great supporter of her husband in his participation with the Silk City Chorus of Manchester. Robert of New Hartford, Elinor D'Angio and her husband Carl, of Reading, MA, and Brian Dunn of East Hartford. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Elinor and James Bontempo and leaves behind sisters Ruth Heneghan and husband, Tom, Janet Zito and husband, William along with nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Lois took up residence at Glastonbury Health Care in January 2009 where she remained until a brief palliative/hospice stay at Hartford Hospital. The family truly appreciates the extraordinary care shown to Lois by the staff at the Nursing Home, especially her devoted nurses, Brendan and Margery. The family is also very grateful for the exceptional end of life care provided by the Palliative/Hospice group and the Cardiac Unit of Hartford Hospital. Calling hours will be held Wednesday Sept. 14 from 4-8 p.m. at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday Sept. 15, at 10am in St. Paul Catholic Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury, with burial to follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
