Obituary of Gilbert Chapman

Gilbert J. Chapman, 85, of East Glastonbury passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family as he joined his beloved late wife, Dawn E. (Wilson) Chapman. He will be sadly missed by his daughter and son-in- law, Holly C. and James E. Gustafson of South Glastonbury. Gil was a lifelong resident of East Glastonbury and a member the Glastonbury Volunteer Fire Department, serving proudly as a former Lieutenant of Company #4 and a charter member of Company #3. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W. II and a self-employed plumber and owner of Gilbert J. Chapman Plumbing and Heating. Gilbert is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and John Vullo of Glastonbury, nieces and nephews, Jeryl Davis of Hebron, Judy Vullo of East Hartford, Jayne Meserlian of FL, John Vullo of Glastonbury, Jeff Vullo of Colchester, Randy Chapman of ME, and sister-in- law, Sharlene Chapman of ME. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald A. Chapman, and his parents, Gladys and Albert Chapman. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of his life on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Glastonbury United Methodist Church, 508 Manchester Road, East Glastonbury. Burial in the Veteran Section of Neipsic Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
