Obituary of David Melvin Mathieu

David Melvin Mathieu, 54, of Glastonbury, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, November 4th, after a short but brave fight with cancer. David was born in Willimantic, on February 10, 1961; son of Ruth Veevers Mathieu and the late Clarence "Bud" Mathieu. He was a 1979 graduate of Windham High School in Willimantic, and received a degree in Business Administration from Bryant University in 1983. He was Vice President of the Employee Benefits Department at HD Segur Insurance, Cheshire, and recently celebrated his 18th anniversary with the company. David was a member of Blackhall Country Club in Old Lyme and the Irish Club in Glastonbury. He was an avid golfer, loved walking his dog, Murphy, on the Addison Bog and Woodlands Trail of which he was deemed "Mayor," and vacationing on the island of St. John. David touched the lives of many with his undeniable charisma and enjoyment of life. He could truly bring a smile to anyone's face. He was the most loving and devoted father to his children. He was predeceased by his father Bud, and is survived by his mother Ruth, son Benjamin, daughter Lauren, their mother Alice; siblings Wayne, Debra, Mark and John; many nieces and nephews; and dearest friends John Ferrigno and Kate Nelligan. There will be calling hours from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 9th at the Glastonbury Hills Country Club, 239 Country Club Road, South Glastonbury, CT. Memorial contributions may be made toward the maintenance of the Addison Bog and Woodlands in memory of David.
