Obituary of Robert M. Orr

Robert M. Orr, 67, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of 44 years to Judith (Ramsey) Orr, died Monday, January 25, 2016, following a long and courageous battle with lymphoma. He was born on September 28, 1948 in Miami, FL to Archibald and the late Virginia (Heath) Orr. Soon after graduating from Florida State University he began a 43 year career with The Travelers Insurance Company, in Miami. Throughout his career Bob and family lived in several states. In 1997 Bob and family moved to Connecticut and settled in Glastonbury. Bob retired in 2014 as a Vice President. Bob loved his family, enjoyed sports of any kind and caring for birds in his backyard in Glastonbury. Bob was a dedicated and very active member of Buckingham Congregational Church; he especially enjoyed his time with the Bible Nuts. Besides his wife, Judy, Bob is survived by his cherished daughter Angela Orr of Glastonbury, his parents Archie and Dolores Orr of Boone, North Carolina, his two brothers Bill Orr and Scott Orr and their families. A memorial service will be celebrated Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00a.m. in Buckingham Congregational Church of Christ, 16 Cricket Ln, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. Due to Bob’s devotion it is to be stressed that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Buckingham Congregational Church of Christ, Glastonbury.
