Obituary of Patricia R. Haertel
Patricia R. Haertel, 73, of Glastonbury, died with her children by her side on Monday April 25, 2016 at Hartford Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born December 21, 1942 in Hartford, daughter of the late Edward Riccio and Guido and Elizabeth (Bertussi) Maggi, she had lived in Glastonbury most of her life. Prior to her retirement she had worked for Quality Name Plate for almost 30 years. Pat was a past member of Company #4 Auxiliary, and the P.O.C. She was a cub scout and brownie leader and coached Hartwell soccer. Our beloved Meme is survived by her son Steven Haertel of Glastonbury, her daughter Heidi Rocha and her husband Joe of Wethersfield, 4 grandchildren Maggie Krawczyk, Alexa Haertel, Katelyn Haertel and Jaclyn Rocha, her former husband William Haertel of Glastonbury, sister-in-law Carlene Pawlowicz and her husband Charles of GA, her niece Denise Woodham and her husband Grady of AL, her nephew Jason Pontes and his wife Heather of GA, a grandniece Sophia Woodham and 2 grandnephews Hawkins and Jude Pontes and many loving cousins. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her oncology team as well as the wonderful staff at the Helen & Harry Gray cancer center and her many loving care takers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 2 at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Sunday May 1 from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215 or to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center Fund, Hartford Hospital, c/o Fund Development Office, 80 Seymour St., P.O.
