Obituary of Raymond Kataja
Raymond E. Kataja, 92, of Glastonbury, the husband of Patricia "Pat" (Frymire) Kataja, died at Hartford Hospital on May 20, 2012. He was born May 19, 1920 in Waltham, MA the son of the late George and Katri (Uskela) Kataja. Ray served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He graduated from Hobart College, NY and received his Master's degree from Syracuse University. He was among the pioneers in the data processing industry, working with Hamilton Standard, IBM and Computer Assistance. Ray was devoted to his wife, sons and grandchildren. He was an avid skier, tennis player and gardener. He is survived by his wife, Pat of Glastonbury, two sons, David Kataja and his wife Marylu of Concord, NC and Andrew Kataja of Enfield, four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Darren and Lauren Kataja. He was predeceased by his brothers, George and John Kataja, his sister, Lillian Liljedahl and his step brother, Henry Jarvinen.
Funeral service will be Saturday (May 26, 2012) at 2 p.m. in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will be private. Family and Friends may call prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice
