Obituary of Theresa Loretta Rodny
Theresa Loretta (Brown) Rodny, 92 of Glastonbury passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2017. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Born on December 28, 1924 in Wallagrass, ME, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Alice (Martin) Brown and was one of twelve children who grew up on her family farm in northern Maine. Terry earned her teaching certificate and taught in Fort Kent, ME for a short period of time before moving to Hartford, CT where she met the late Joseph (George) Rodny. They later married in 1954 and had seven children. Terry was an active member of St. Paul's and later St. Dunstan’s parish in Glastonbury. She taught CCD at St. Dunstan and was the director of religious education for the parish as well as a Eucharistic Minister and President of the Legion of Mary – Our lady of the Angels, She was involved in many prayer groups and participated in a church pilgrimage to Vatican City to see the Pope. She loved traveling, cooking and spending time with her family vacationing in Cape Cod. Terry will be best remembered as a person of tremendous faith, endless love, and compassion for helping others.
She is survived by her children: Carolyn Teed-Ives and husband Richard Ives of Brooklyn, CT, Bill Rodny and wife Christine of Manchester, CT, Cindy Prall and husband Jeff of Hopkinton, MA, Sharon Germano and husband Pete of North Grosvenordale, CT, Donna Giuffrida of South Glastonbury, CT, Michael Rodny of Belmont, MA, and Steve Rodny and wife, Patty of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren (one predeceased), two great grandchildren, her brother Harold Brown of Berlin, CT, sister-in-law Jean Brown, of Vernon, CT, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 4 to 7pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury, CT. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday 10am at St Dunstan Catholic Church in Glastonbury, CT. followed by burial at the Neipsic Cemetery in East Glastonbury.
