I am so saddened to learn of dear Gina's passing. Gina was a giant of a lady , always caring about each and every child and adult. I had the wonderful privilege of working in Glastonbury Schools with Gina as my mentor and Friend. She was another St Mother Teresa! My love to her husband David, Mary, Tricia, Christopher, David,Jr and all her family. I will always remember her radiant smile, love, Irish humor and Deep Faith in GOD!

Gina was the most giving and amazing person. Working with her at Gideon was such a wonderful experience. I would ask her to chat and of course she was always on the move. She would say " come on and walk with me." Even though she always had a 100 things going on at once, she would give you a 100 percent of her attention. Thank you Gina for helping us with our kids and making things for us bearable. Heaven is lucky to have such a loving and giving person. Thank you for everything.

Whether one was a student, parent or staff member, Gina showed a motherly care for all. Her daily loud speaker announcement of, "It's another bright sun-shiny day at Hebron Avenue School" still rings with encouragement in my ears. Little did she know, SHE was the sunshine! I learned to eat Reuben sandwiches prepared by Gina in celebration of every St. Patrick's day. I never knew how she had time to make them each year, but Gina ALWAYS found time for pleasing people. She was such a joy to know. I am very sorry for your loss. Sherry Kuhrt, Music Teacher hired by Gina at HAS

There is an old saying;"It's good to be blessed. It's better to be a blessing" Gina was both. She was a bright light where ever she was. It has been an honor to know her, work with her, and to learn from her. I am sure the first thing she did when she arrived in Heaven was to look around to see what person needed her help the most!

Gina was one of the most 'special' persons I've ever known... Caring, delightfully upbeat and, sometimes 'irreverent'! We shared many fun times and stories. I'll always remember closing her in her office so that she could 'catch up on her work'.... In an hour she'd poke her head out and ask if she could 'come out now'! So many fond memories... They still make me smile but, with tears in my eyes.

Gina walked into our lives when Jimmy was 2 years old (he is now 28). She came to our house and walked me through the Special Education Maze. She made us feel that Jimmy would be so welcomed into the Glastonbury School System. Jimmy was lucky to have her all the way through 6th grade. It was such a blessing to know Gina was with him through all those years. She will be deeply missed.

Dear Vance family,
You know what a special mom Gina was to all of you, but she adopted every student, teacher and parent as one of her own. Gina was a mentor, a friend that I could share laughs and tears with, and a partner in crime. The capers we pulled off. There is a special place in my heart for all of you. Just remember the work and dedication your mom put into every thing she touched. I know her "Pass it on" theme is being carried out by every person she touched. I know I am a better man for having Gina in my life. May she rest in peace and continue watch over all of us proudly.

I am so fortunate to have known Gina as one of her staff at Gideon Welles, but also through her family. She was one of the most amazing people I have ever met in any realm of life. Gina taught me so much about teaching, but also about life and family. It is an honor to have worked with her. I will miss her dearly. My condolences to her family.

Mrs Vance had a way of reaching even the toughest children in her line of work. I have no doubt that my time with her as a student was trying for her and fortunate for me, and I cherish the time spent reflecting on it all as a graduate of her schools. I am thankful that through her working with my mother I was able to spend time revisiting her and discussing our experiences over the years. With age and through conversation I gained a much deeper appreciation for her impact and wonderful intentions than I ever could've understood as an unruly child interacting with my principal. I will always cherish the relationship forged later alongside the role she played for so many of us in the school system, and offer my deepest condolences to the Vance family and everyone else effected.

There are no words to convey the deep love and admiration so many of us have for this wonderful human being. Gina, you always had our backs; we knew we could count on you to be there in the good times and the bad. The world was a better place with you in it, and I'm sure the good Lord is glowing right now because he realizes who just walked through the Pearly Gates. (Actually, I doubt you walked through...you never moved at that pace.) So, you blew through those gates like a force to be reckoned with - but with a smile and positive energy that can't be beat.
To David and the rest of the family, I hope you take comfort in the love that surrounds all of you at this difficult time. Because we loved her, we love you.

If yellow roses grow in Heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, place them in Gina's arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her I love her and I already miss her so, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Honoring her is easy, I'll think of her every day, because there is an ache within my heart, that will never go away. Gina, thanks for being YOU, enjoy your wings, you earned them many years ago. With heartfelt sympathy to the Vance Family.
