Obituary of Rene N. Larose

Rene N Larose, 84, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Sunday May 21st at his home. Born in Hartford, CT he was the son of the late Emilien and Irene (Foley) Larose.

A lifelong resident of Glastonbury and more recently a resident of Manchester, CT Rene was raised in Hartford, attended St. Anne School and was active in Scout Troop 75. Rene was a graduate of Buckley High School in Hartford, CT (class of 1950), the University of Connecticut, and the University of Massachusetts where earned degrees in microbiology and virology. He enjoyed a long career as a laboratory director and research virologist at Arbor Acres of Glastonbury CT. Rene was highly regarded and considered an expert in his field. He developed several vaccines and poultry breeds. Published and well-versed, he traveled the world assisting in those endeavors. Following his retirement from Arbor Acres he started BioSafe Systems with his son Robert. Rene took loving care of his wife for several years until her passing and continued sharing his loving care to anyone in need.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, regaling them with stories of the past. Rene enjoyed a spirited debate.  He was also a clever problem solver, making him everyone’s “go to” guy.

Predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Lorraine (DesFosses), Rene leaves his four children:  Diane Maxson and her husband David of Medfield Massachusetts; Robert Larose and his wife, Mary Ann of Barkhamstead; Kenneth Larose and his wife, Maria of Glastonbury, and Stephen Larose of Raleigh, North Carolina. Rene leaves his cherished grandchildren, Michael Larose and his wife Nicole, Lauren Crane and her husband Justin, Matthew Larose, Hilary (Maxson) Settle and her husband David, Scott Maxson, and Jack Larose, as well as his great-granddaughters Emma and Ava Crane. He  also leaves his sisters, Rita Egan of West Hartford and Lucille and Ted Lockwood of Stowe, VT; his sister-in-law Constance DeLoreto of Glastonbury, as well as a wealth of dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were in constant contact and enriched his life immensely. The family would like to convey special thanks to Marrianne Asselin for the special care she took of Rene.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 26, at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester, CT. Friends and family may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT on Thursday, May 25 from 5 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Masonicare Annual Appeal, c/o The Masonic Charity Foundation of CT., P.O.
